I didn't search the landfill.I went home instead.
Before bed,I checked my phone. The Internet was abaze with the story of patient families attacking a doctor, only to find out the doctor wasn't the homewrecker they had accused her of being.
Some were captivated by the drama, others condemned Olivia.A handful defended her, claiming it was all a misunderstanding.

One comment, liked 400,000 times, stood out:
"She said from the start she wasn't a homewrecker, but Olivia refused to listen and did terrible things."
After liking the comment,I,slept soundly.
First thing next morning,I set out to find Olivia.
She was looking for me,grabbing my arm with a wide grin.
"Come tell Ethan you've forgiven me!"

I shook her off.
That morning,Ethan had called six times, asking if I'd still perform his surgery.
I told him I'd resume once I healed.
He insisted Olivia apologize, threatening to ensure she faced jail unless I forgave her.

I tried explaining I wouldn't let personal grudges affect surgery, but he cut me off.
"She owes you an apology for what she did.If you don't forgive her,I'll make sure she's prosecuted."
Now Olivia was desperate—her dream of becoming Mrs. Marshall shattered, jail looming over her.
She glared."What, you won't?I'll give you$20,000 to say you forgive me."
Her tone dripped with entitlement,as if the money were some kind of charity.
I smirked."No way.You haven't even apologized.You want forgiveness?Do what I did—livestream yourself calling yourself a filthy tramp,then apologize."
She froze, glaring like I was wrong to demand it.
When she didn't budge,I shrugged."No apology?Fine."
I turned to leave.She shouted,"I'll do it!"
I stopped, pulling the costume from my bag.
"Wear this on the stream."
Her eyes burned with venom, ready to lunge.
Ethan approached,smiling."Dr.Evans,I need to discuss your surgery."
I nodded, and we found a spot to talk.
Olivia trailed us,step for step.
Ethan snapped,"What do you want?"
She pouted,"Ethan,I broke hospital stuff yesterday.They want$50,000…"
He waved her off."Pay it yourself.Sell your house.I've cleaned up your messes for seven years—remember?"
He led me away, ignoring her cries.
