I called Michael.
"Michael, how could you?! Cheating on Amanda on your wedding day? She's too good for you!"
"Jessica, what are you talking about? I'm not cheating on anyone."

"Don't lie! Amanda's gathering people to attack the other woman!"
"Listen, she seems like an amazing person. If you hurt her, I'll never forgive you!"
"I just finished chemo and flew all the way back for this. If you mess this up, I'm done with you!"
I hung up just as loud banging came from my door.
The moment I opened it, someone shoved me aside hard.
A group of women rushed in.

"Look, everyone! This is the slut right here!"
"You pathetic gold digger! How dare you live in a house like this — paid with his money?!"
Before I could see clearly, a phone was shoved in my face.
Vile insults flew from every direction.

I rubbed my eyes. It was Amanda and her bridesmaids.
Weren't they after the mistress? Why were they at my place?
"You've got the wrong person — I'm not —"
Amanda slapped me across the face before I could finish.
"You little whore. How dare you live in a place this nice? Enjoying my man's money?"
My left cheek burned. My head spun.
The others joined in, hurling insults.
"You're nothing but a cheap home-wrecker! You deserve this!"
"Yeah, causing trouble on her wedding day? You're asking for it!"
Neighbors gathered, pointing and whispering.
I swallowed my anger and looked straight at Amanda.
"You're Amanda, right? You've mistaken me for someone else. I'm not the woman you're looking for."
Thinking she was my future sister-in-law — and that maybe Michael had done something wrong — I decided not to escalate.
I thought she'd realize her mistake.
Instead, she got even more aggressive.
"Scared now? You had the nerve to seduce him but not to own it? I saw the picture you posted with my man!"
She showed me a screenshot: a photo of me and Michael on Twitter.
He'd commented a heart and called me "the most important person in my life".
It all clicked.
The "other woman" was me — his sister.
I sighed, "You've got it wrong. I'm Michael's sister, Jessica. Maybe get your facts straight next time."
Amanda looked me up and down and smirked.
"You expect me to believe that? You look like you're in your thirties. No way you're his sister."
"Pathetic lies. I bet the only way you afford this place is by selling yourself."
I did look older because of cancer.
But even if she mistook me for the mistress, I never threatened her like she claimed in the stream.
Turns out Amanda wasn't the sweet woman I imagined.
