"That ringtone…" Michael murmured.
He came over, lifted my bloody face, and wiped away the blood.
When he recognized me, his eyes widened.
"Jessica! It's you!"
The room froze.
The live stream filled with "???".
Amanda turned pale.
"What's happening?"
"Amanda, why is he calling her his sister?"
"Was she telling the truth?"
The bridesmaids who'd hit me the hardest began to panic.
Amanda was sweating. She walked over slowly.
"Michael, you — you must be mistaken."
Michael's eyes were red. "Do you think I don't know my own sister?"
"Amanda, is this the ‘mistress' you meant?"
He'd never yelled at her before.
She trembled. "Michael, I — I didn't know."
"I didn't know it was her."
She was terrified.
I was in Michael's arms, slowly waking up.
I used my last bit of strength. "Michael, this wedding… isn't happening."
Then I passed out.
Later, I woke up in a hospital bed.
"Jessica! You're awake!" Michael looked worried and tired.
"Miss, how are you feeling?" an officer asked.
"Better. Where's Amanda?"
"We reviewed the footage. Everyone involved is in custody. We're waiting for you."
I nodded.
Michael looked guilty. "Jessica, I'm so sorry—"
"It's not your fault. Your wife is cruel and vicious. I don't approve of this marriage."
He looked hurt.
"After what she did to you? I could kill her! I'm not marrying her."
I nodded. "Good. Then I know how to handle this."
I turned to the officer.
"They broke into my home, destroyed over a hundred million dollars worth of collectibles, kidnapped me, assaulted me, and humiliated me."
"I don't want a settlement. I want justice."
"Understood."
The officer left.
After two days, I went to the station with Michael.
